Focus Maui Nui is a VOICE, a VISION, a PLAN OF ACTION for Maui County’s future created for and by the people who live here.

The goal is for all of us to play a role in making Maui County the kind of place we want our kids to grow up in, with our environment and core values preserved and perpetuated.


Take a look at the following Key Strategies for Action put together by residents from all over Maui County:

	Improve Education
	Protect the natural environment, including our water resources
	Address infrastructure challenges especially housing and transportation
	Adopt targeted economic development strategies
	Preserve local culture and address community health concerns such as substance abuse

Chances are, a few of these strategies are close to your heart. Choose one or two, then take action.


Here are some examples of things you can do as an individual or with friends. You may already have started some of them:

	Spend two hours each month serving on a nonprofit or school committee
	Adopt a classroom and a teacher and help with supplies
	Form an environmental committee at your workplace or organization
	Set up a recycling point at a school for newspapers, cans, cardboard and plastics
	Develop cultural and historical “sense of place” chronicles of your town
	Offer student internships at your company
	Start a debate club on community issues
	Weave Focus Maui Nui’s priorities into your annual strategic planning
	Host a coffee hour with candidates and VOTE
