What makes her feel good about our Maui Nui
community?
“I love that my community is peaceful and small. Every–
one knows everyone and the beach can be seen from any–
where you are. I also love that on my way to school every
morning I can see the beautiful mountains.”
What is she concerned about in Maui Nui?
“That one day possibly in 5 or 10 years, I won’t be able to
see the ocean or the mountains very well because there
will be so much development.”
What is her idea to address this community concern?
“Instead of privately owning all the land, we could set up
community land trusts that allow our community to decide
how our land is used.”
What are her hopes for Maui’s future?
“Maui in 20 years would be like Maui 5 years ago
with less development and clean, beautiful beaches.”
