The Youth Alliance tackles invasive species at Kanaha Beach Park

Guided by volunteer Mike Perry, the Youth Alliance spent the day at the wildlife refuge, Kanaha Beach Park learning about the wetlands, invasive species and native plants.  Operating under the philosophy that they can accomplish more together than they can alone, the Alliance worked as a unit pulling invasive weeds and cutting down overgrown trees.  Although many of the Alliance members had spent time at Kanaha Beach Park in the past, they were unaware it was a wetland and wildlife refuge.  Upon future visits, the members will see the park in a new light with all its diversity and beauty and care for it accordingly.
